Tuesday - Grammar


Grammar – Remember to refer back to your grammar terms to support.

A) Label each of the underlined words as a verb or noun:

  1. George said his goodnights and left the church with the others.
  2. They lifted their books and sang with even more fervour.
  3. The men suppressed a grin between themselves.



B) Circle the adjectives in the sentences below.

  1. They all thought Tom was talented at playing the organ.
  2. Tom played a beautiful song for Willie after the rehearsal.
  3. As the evening went on, the singing became more lovely.
  4. The small church was filled with the voices of the choir.
  5. The men thought that Tom was still a grumpy, old man.
  6. The first carol was sung with little effort, and sounded dull.


C) Extend these sentences using either a relative clause or subordinate clause.


  1. Tom played the organ.
  2. The men sang loudly.
  3. George sat in the second row.




D) Explain how Toms mood changed before, during and after the carol rehearsal.
